Scientific Derivative Art Scintellix is dedicated to the untangling of information through the provision of decision analysis support systems. In contrast, to depict how readily critical information can be made difficult to interpret, Scintellix uses a combination of Cryptogram Challenges and Scientific Derivative Art. In the latter, scientific images are processed using computer algorithms to create unusual and often beautiful images that are linked to the original image by the processing methodology. Two types of Scientific Derivative Art are created: 1. Transcriptional Scientific Derivative Art-TM results from the application of image processing algorithms to black and white scientific images, resulting in black and white output images. The following examples illustrate the cleaving of a red blood cell by intravascular fibrin strands, resulting in the production of fragmented red blood cells known as Schistocytes: The original image. Derivative art follows: 2. Translational Scientific Derivative Art-TM results from the application of image processing algorithms to either color or black and white scientific images that result in a color image output. The following examples illustrate the painted image of a gene expression microarray that was used in the original Cryptogram Challenge known as the MicroArray Challenge: The Original Image Each type of artwork, much like the Cryptogram Challenges themslves, hides information with a decipherable tether (in this case, the algorithm) that allows its source to ultimately be traced. By analogy, Decide-S3 Analytics-TM provides this functionality when addressing difficult decisions in business or personal settings. Scientific Derivative Art can be used to convey the story of science in entirely new ways. It can be used in packaging, on apparel and elsewhere to provide a unique signature for companies and institutions focused in specific scientific areas.
